MPorium free to FLOURISH

The 11th grand re-opening of MPorium transformed the boutique store in the Steel Plant into a fantastical garden. Every semester, students in the fashion department鈥檚 retail entrepreneurship course relaunch the store at Marist with a new theme. This semester's concept, free to FLOURISH, represents how the students have thrived during their time at 蜜月直播.
During the free to FLOURISH grand opening on Feb. 14, the store was adorned with hanging wisteria, blooming peonies, and overgrown moss. A food stand offered refreshing bites and, with a Valentine鈥檚 Day twist, a flower stand treated shoppers to free flowers. Changing the concept every semester allows the students to experiment with new product assortments, marketing tactics, and visual displays that pertain to the new theme.
MPorium serves as a retail laboratory, offering a hands-on experience for students to dive deeply into the complexities of managing and maintaining a thriving fashion business. Like an internship, MPorium provides an immersive learning experience that allows students to understand the challenges and responsibilities of the industry.

Out in the Real World

Let鈥檚 recap: Students were recently invited to attend the "Out in the Real World'' panel, featuring queer and trans alumni and staff with diverse backgrounds. This event provided students with an opportunity to gain insights into the career journeys of LGBTQ+ individuals and receive valuable advice on navigating the workforce.
Variety of perspectives: The occupations of the panelists varied from being an accountant to a concert photographer, allowing students to connect with individuals relevant to their own career goals. Panelists addressed crucial topics such as asking organizations about their LGBTQ+ inclusivity efforts and the significance of having a support system within the workplace.
Why it matters: Mike Brosseau '14, an alumnus who now works as Senior Director of Admissions at Bentley University, said: 鈥淚 want to be part of the solution and help others see what their experiences can be like and try to instill wisdom. I don't recall this event happening when I was a student here so it is an honor and a duty at the same time to come back as my fully formed self to try to help others.鈥
