Media Center
Classrooms
Media Center staff is available to instruct you on the usage of any room. There are directions posted in each room. Most rooms have telephones to use to call for assistance. Dial extension 2525 to report any equipment difficulty.
Multimedia Projection
The recommended method to project a multimedia presentation in Marist classrooms is by using the resident PC located in the instructor's podium in each room. There is a connection available for laptop in most rooms, however, while Marist classrooms utilize standard projection equipment, there is no guarantee that any one particular laptop will be compatible with the system, behave in a predictable or desirable way, or be able to obtain access onto Marist's network.
To project one's own presentation using the resident PC, we offer the following suggestions:
- Bring the presentation with you on some form of removable storage (USB, data CD).
- Email the presentation to yourself so that you can access that email and download the presentation to the desktop.
- For large files, you may utilize Microsoft OneDrive, which allows the transfer of large files to and from members of the Marist community. For more information, please see the instructions.
In order to project the computer screen in our classrooms, the instructor's podium computer display must be set to "duplicate". This means that what you are seeing on the desktop screen will be the same as what your class is seeing on the classroom projection screen. Further, as you open/close and maximize/minimize certain applications, the computer may change itself to a different setting.
To make this adjustment, using the computer keyboard simultaneously press the "window" key found in the lower left hand corner AND the letter "P" key. A menu will open offering a variety of selections. Click on "duplicate" and in a moment both screens will display the computer desktop.
